The end of an era at Fox News

Cavuto, 66, has been the anchor of the afternoon program *Your World with Neil Cavuto* since the launch of Fox News in 1996. His final episode will mark the conclusion of an era for the news channel.

“The illustrious career of Neil Cavuto has been a masterclass in journalism, and we are extremely proud of his incredible 28-year journey with Fox News Media,” the network stated in an official release. “We wish him a warm farewell and all the best in his next chapter.”

A solid and multifaceted career

Cavuto was a central figure at Fox, hosting three weekly programs: *Your World* and *Cavuto: Coast to Coast* on weekdays, as well as the weekend show *Cavuto Live.* He also served as the senior vice president of Fox Business Network, dedicating 12 hours a week to on-air programming.

In addition to his prominence at the network, Cavuto was widely respected in business journalism, setting standards for economic news coverage.

Conflicts with Trump

Cavuto’s departure marks the loss of one of the few remaining critical voices of former President Donald Trump within Fox News. Throughout his career, Cavuto often challenged Trump’s claims on issues such as trade tariffs, Covid-19 treatments, and other controversial statements.

In 2020, Cavuto criticized Trump’s reported use of hydroxychloroquine as a preventive treatment for Covid-19. In response, Trump publicly attacked Cavuto, calling him “stupid” and a “fool” in social media posts.

Despite his critical stance, Cavuto maintained a strong viewer base and was one of the few anchors willing to address sensitive issues without fear of political repercussions.

The next chapter

There is no information yet about Cavuto’s future plans, but his impact on Fox News and the journalism industry is undeniable. His departure leaves a significant void at the network, which continues to solidify its appeal to conservative viewers.

Cavuto’s farewell will be remembered as the closing of an era, both for the network and for television journalism in the United States.
